How to train your brain to fall asleep in 60 seconds

Insomnia is definitely the leading sleep disorder around the world, that affects millions of people.

It is a disorder that can be caused by multiple factors like high-stress levels and eating late.

Those cases make it impossible to fall asleep, which leave your energy levels drained during the rest of your day. Most doctors prescribe sleeping pills when a patient is suffering from insomnia, but the pills are dangerous and have many side-effects, which makes them not worthy at all.

Luckily, there is a method that is very safe, and that can help you fall asleep. Dr. Andrew Weil, from the Harvard University, invented a technique that will help you fall asleep in just 60 minutes.

The 4-7-8 breathing technique

This is a technique that doesn’t require you to do have any special equipment or to make any special effort. You need to start breathing through your nose for four seconds, then hold your breath for seven seconds and then release it for eight. It is a technique that will flood your brain with certain compounds, and it will also slow your heart rate down, making you quickly fall asleep.

It is a great technique from several aspects. When your body is stressed out, the adrenals release adrenaline, a hormone which will increase your heart rate and it will make you panic. This sudden rush of adrenaline will as well accelerate your breathing, which in turn will result in quicker exhaling and inhaling. The 4-7-8 technique will regulate your breath, it will make it slower and it will significantly lower your heart rate. This will effectively fight stress and it will help you easily fall asleep.

When first perform this exercise, you may experience a slight discomfort, but it will pass quickly. The exercise will bring you a pleasant feeling which will relieve insomnia without any side-effects.
